Calculating Your Gas
Mileage
The easiest and most effective
way to Calculate Your Gas Mileage is to follow the steps
below:
- Start by filling up your gas
tank until it is completely full
- Next, reset your trip odometer
to 000
- Drive your vehicle as usual
until your tank falls below ¼ tank
- Fill up your gas tank until
it is completely full again
- Calculating Gas Mileage is
a matter of taking the total number of miles you've
driven since the last fill up (from your trip odometer)
and divide by the total number of gallons it just
took you to fill up your tank. Example: Trip odometer
shows 250 miles and the number of gallons to refill
your tank was 14.5 gallons. 250 miles divided by
14.5 gallons equals 17.24 miles per gallon. City
gas mileage and highway gas mileage will always
differ. If you ever want to calculate your highway gas mileage, next time you take a trip whereby you will be traveling mostly highways or interstates, repeat Steps 1 through 5 above. This will give you your highway mileage.
